The Annual Knitting Guild outdoor get-together is July 28 (raindate August 4) from 3-6 at the Gazebo in the Bedford Village Memorial Park on Greenwich Road in Bedford.  It is easily accessible from 684, exit 4 where you will take route 172 towards Bedford (right if you are coming from the south or left if you are coming from the north). At the light, make a left onto route 22 and go 1/2 mile to the next light and make the right onto Greenwich Road.  (You can also take route 22 and follow the directions once you get to Greenwich Rd.).  The park will be on your right; first you’ll see the exit then the entrance where you can turn in and then park. The Gazebo is on the left as you turn in.  If you have a mobility issue (although the park is very flat and the main parking is quite close to the Gazebo), you can pass the entrance and make the following right and park by the platform tennis courts and you’ll have a very short walk to the Gazebo.  There are picnic tables under the Gazebo that you can sit at or you can bring a chair.

We will post on the website if we will be using the raindate by 2:15 on the 28th.  If it is only drizzling, the Gazebo provides protection.

As usual, you can bring friends who are currently not guild members (although we hope they will join) and you can bring any charity items you have knit. We will also have a book exchange so please bring any books you no longer need but you’ll need to take home any books that aren’t taken home by others.  You can also pick up yarn for charity knitting.  Additionally, we will also have some raffles for Pick Up Every Stitch gift certificates for members.

We are planning to have a yarn sale to benefit the Guild at our in person afternoon meeting in December at the Pleasantville library so we are asking that you look through your stash and find any nice yarns (no charity yarns please) that you know you will never use and bring them to the July meeting.  I know we all have a few of the “why on earth did I buy that color yarn”, I think that alpaca is SO itchy, I’ll never use that gorgeous bulky yarn, singles just don’t work for me, Lopi just isn’t for me, I already made a sweater out of that yarn and I don’t want to use it again, etc.  These are my excuses for the yarns I’m bringing and I’m guessing that you have similar excuses or maybe some different ones too.  I know we all have a hard time letting go of stash yarns but this is for a good cause—benefiting the Guild will bring better and more programs so please, look through your stash and bring the yarns with you to the get together.

This is always a lovely get together and WE hope to see many of you there!
