Programs are held at the Mt. Pleasant Library in Pleasantville, NY. Sit and Knit starts at 5:45 PM; the program at 7:00. Free for members. Guests welcome. Celebrate the new year with the guild on January 27th! Desserts and coffee will be on hand and prizes will be raffled off. The theme of the night is charity knitting and this year we are focusing on two different projects:
preemie hat patternHere is a quick pattern for a simple, rolled edge, stockinette hat using fingering weight yarn; great for sock weight leftovers. Using either 4 or 5 size 2 double pointed needles, cast on 72 stitches and divide them between the needles. Start knitting around being careful not to twist the stitches and knit for 4”. On the next round, begin decreasing as follows: Round 1: *(Knit 6, knit 2 together), repeat from * around Round 2: *(Knit 5, knit 2 together), repeat from * around Round 3: *(Knit 4, knit 2 together), repeat from * around Round 4: *(Knit 3, knit 2 together), repeat from * around Round 5: *(Knit 2, knit 2 together), repeat from * around Round 6: *(Knit 1, knit 2 together), repeat from * around Round 7: *(Knit 2 together), repeat from * around You can either cut the yarn and weave in the ends or work an i-cord for a few inches and then knot it. from the St. Bartholomew’s soup kitchen staff We received this message from the St. Bartholomew's Soup Kitchen Staff regarding the scarves the Guild knit for the soup kitchen.
