Westport Yarns visits February 26

On Monday February 26, Julie Van Norden of Westport Yarns will be presenting Fair Isle Knitting. Owner Beth Schaefer will be on hand to assist.

​Julie has been knitting since high school and color work is one of her favorite knitting techniques. Much of Julie's uncanny color-sense can be attributed to the fact that she is a professional artist.

Sit and knit starts at 6:00 PM; Program starts at 7:00 PM. Chappaqua Library Auditorium. Free for members and $10 for guests.

• Color play: planning color decision in traditional Fair Isle
• Various ways to hold needles
• Knitting Fair Isle "flat" versus "in the round"

• Examples of garments
• Tension: the most difficult part! Tips to help achieve even tension.

Julie and Beth will provide hands on demonstrations in smaller groups and answer questions.

Kits will be available for sale at a discount for this special event! Westport Yarns are assembling a number of kits, and yarn paired with patterns for members to be able to pick their own colors. In addition to Fair Isle, also offered will be kits for different color work projects, such as mosaic and slipped stitch, and striping in multiple colors.
